Buzzing with FOOD

Some stumble upon this site after searching about Jemputree. Maybe it’s the new place in town which has a nice ambience and food, so people just want to go there and try out.

I’ve been there once (read it here) and I enjoyed the cozy and dim-lighting environment!! I’m a ‘yellow-light’ fanatic so I love such places decorated in such way. But some people hate it because it’s too dark for their liking and complains that it’s bad for their eyes. :P

Well…here’s more infor about Jemputree if you are interested to go pay a visit and enjoy your meal there.

There’s a promotion going on…but no idea when it will end though.

For more info and how to go…

It’s actually quite easy to find this place. Majority of Penang people should know where is Him Heang Biscuit Shop (nehh…the shop selling the ever-famous Penang ‘tau sar pneah’). Once you pass Him Heang, you will see Jemputree on your right…you will not see the signboard but it’s just a corner shop with trees and yellow-lights and leaf-rooftops!!

Enjoy!!

nope…I’m not paid or given any free meal for this post (but how I wish I could get any, as a token :P ) but just want to share about another food outlet in this island.

This is something which I never wrote about here but since it’s the hotest issue right now in our country, I’m just gonna say something short.

It’s going to be my first time voting. The newpaper and TV news seems like a brainwashing tool for the parties and individuals contesting to "drill" the citizens into thinking who’s the right men/women to cast our votes. Very misleading indeed as the mainstream papers and tv stations are probably owned by the people linked to the "big guns".

That aside, I realise there are many new voters who have the slightest idea about the election details such as who up contesting, how many parties are there, how to vote, what is the indelible ink and what is it for and so forth.

I just came upon a blog which shows the process of voting. It’s good for first time voters to take a look and understand it so we we won’t be like *blur blur sotong* when the big day comes. The only different thing this time around will be the use of the indelible ink!! So remember, don’t put any nail polish on that day.

"Exercise your rights and vote wisely". That’s the tagline everyone has been saying. Some might think they couldn’t care less with all this but it is sure going to affect our daily life in some way or another in the future. Enough said.

**updated 4th March

No more using indelible ink for some "security" reason as told by the EC.

The Election Commission has cancelled the use of indelible ink for this general election, citing public order and security issues.

The stunning announcement was made at a press conference in Putrajaya this afternoon - four days before polling.

abdul rashid abdul rahman and spr and general election 130208EC chairperson Abdul Rashid Abdul Rahman said the commission was obliged to make a "firm and final decision to ensure the smooth conduct of the 12th general election".

Some of my favourites foreign brand foodstuff.

Korean Clay Pot Ramyun

Tasted great. Sour, spicy and salty all at the same time!! It’s usually around RM10-12 for a pack of 5 though…but for me, it’s gotta be one of the best foreign brand noodles!!

This one is slightly cheaper. Taste better than the local brands but the one above is still better!! Hehe

Want Want rice crackers

Another of my favorite snack, japanese rice crackers. It’s addictive sometimes!!

Chocolate Chunk cookies

Just recently found out this brand from my cousin. Sweet and crunchy with huge chunks of chocolates - keeps up to the name!! (not like some local brand which has those teeny-weeny bits chocolate chips)

These brands are not as cheap as the local brands but it’s worth the try.

Cheers :)

If you are longing for some hot stuff (and I mean REALLY spicy stuff), then try out these Thai food in Supertanker Food Court around Lip Sin Garden.

Nasi Paprik (that piece of fried chicken is bought seperately from the Belacan Fried Chicken stall)

Fried Tomyam Maggi

Looks mild but after a few mouthful….wow, the cili padi strikes in. Tissues and cold water was the saviour from the embarassment of a runny nose and tears. Hahaha….but it was "chi kek" though.

Prawn Omelette (Heh Chien) from the Oyster omelette stall. You can even choose to have both oyster and prawns together in the omelette.

Daily drool, Special dayFebruary 19, 2008 2:04 pm

Last Saturday, inner Georgetown roads were filled, not with cars/motors but with people from young to old. Most roads from Carnavon Street till somewhere Dewan Sri Pinang were close to make way for the largest Chinese New Year celebration in Penang.

The main stage of the event

Decorations (KOMTAR in the background)

There were more than 80 stalls displaying different cultural aspects of the Chinese and the food which is popular during each Chinese festival.

The 12 main cultures on display are

(I only managed to capture 11 of the 12 culture display boards. I wonder which one did I miss?!?)

Highlight of the event, Lion Dance on stilts. For the first time, I was only standing like a meter away from the lion dance performance. Great view but the sound of the drum is deafening.

(Does it look like from the Lion King movie?? - the lion king standing on the cliff looking down to the animal kingdom) Hehehe

Dragon dance

Say cheezzzeee..you are on camera!!!

Displays. "Rats" everywhere!! This item in the dimsum baskets cannot be eaten though :P

Colourful items on sale.

Fruit carving & decorative items on display.

We didn’t buy any food from there because firstly, they were not cheap (Rm4-5 for a bowl of noodles) and secondly they were so many people that there isn’t a place to sit in sight.

So we ended up going to Tai Thong Cafe for char ho fun and dim sum. Some people say the food here used to taste better in the olden days but it loses its goodness now.

Tai Thong cafe

It has been a nice outing. Although the state celebration is held annually, this is only my first time witnessing it (which also marks the first time I’m back, settled down in Pg after 4 years in KL) There’s lots more photos I took but it’s too time-consuming to load all here. If you are interested to see more photos, click on the link below.

I want to see more photos!!!

Anyone else was there? Any photos to share?
