Fong Lye Taiwan Restaurant in MidValley The Gardens (3rd Floor)

Most dishes comes in set (the main dish, rice and appetizer)

(such beautiful and nice porcelain set and wooden tray!!)
We choosed to have some tea and picked Taiwan "Gui Hua" Oolong Tea for two. This is the first time I tasted oolong tea added with Gui Hua (what kind of flower is it anyway?) and I was surprisingly attracted to its fragrance and refreshing taste. Where can I buy this kind of tea???? Anyone knows???
We ordered what almost every table ordered…which is the sweet potato ball and steamboat set. Must be good considering how popular it is right?? It taste like cekodok/kuih kodok but potato version instead of banana. Not bad. I asked my friend who has been to Taiwan some time ago, whether this snack is popular in Taiwan. She answered "Dunno"
Sweet Potato Balls (15 pieces) - RM 4.80
A closer look….

Feels so nice….sipping tea and indulging in the potato balls.
As we munch down the last piece, our steamboat set came. It’s suppose to be for 1 person, but since we were partially filled already, so we asked for another empty bowl to share this steamboat. Nothing special about this steamboat. It has all the usual ingredients.
Taiwan Steamboat Set - RM 29.80

The pot is so small and cute…

Seafood is fresh and there’s a variety such as meat, sui kow/dumpling and vege. One uncommon type was meat wrapped in egg (left center in photo, below the prawns). It taste quite nice!!
Waiting to boil….
Yay…Eating time
(another look of the meat wrapped in egg - on the left)
All the above eaten with this sauce - combination of chilli, radish, spring onion and their version of soya sauce which is not very salty.
We initially did not choose to have our late lunch here, but there was a queue outside the shop so we thought we should give it a try.
While eating, the place is still full-house at around 3pm!!!

(the little girl on the table beside us had quite some fun eating her sweet potato balls…hehe)
It was a satisfying meal for me….and with the wonderful tea I had, I have no complains. But somehow I read some blog reviews about it not being so good. I guess different food ordered do give a different impressions!!! Also, we followed the crowd and ordered the popular dish, so I guess it wasn’t bad for us after all.
