Lunch time when you are around FTZ area can be quite a challenge. Not because of the traffic or something like that. But it’s the choices and location that are available to choose from.

A friend took me to e KiA Restaurant, located just a next door to HSBC at Queensbay for a simple home-cooked style lunch.

During lunch time, they offer set meals which includes the main dish, a herbal drink, a bowl of soup and dessert consisting of jelly and fruits.

If set meal is not preferred, then you can also choose from a list of dishes and order rice to go with it. They have quite a wide variety of dishes to choose from.

We ordered 2 different set meals. Drinks and dessert are served at the beginning. The piece of fruit and jelly is really tiny. It doesn’t cost much to prepare such simple stuff but why are they so ungenerous? Drink is "leong cha" or cooling tea.

I ordered Thai Style Mango Fish Rice (RM 9.50). Fish fillet are battered then deep fried. Thai mango salad is then glazed on top of it. Side dish includes a sunny-side-up egg and a piece of cucumber and tomato each.

Soup is also given in the set meal. It varies on different days. We were served peanut soup that day.

The fish fillet was crispy yet juicy inside and the thai mango salad has a nice combination of sourish and sweet taste.

Another set meal was Salad Fish Rice (RM 9.90). Same side dish but it’s fish fillet top with mayonnaise and sesame seeds. This dish is a little dry in my opinion. I prefer to have a little gravy when eating rice.

It’s a simple meal and taste very home-cooked.
