Lao Fu Zhi Bak Kut Teh is located at Paya Terubong. This stall is just beside the Te Chang You Tiao Wang stall. Whenever I pass by, there seem to be quite a number of customers there. So we decided to give it a try.
(There’s another Bak Kut Teh stall with a similar name at Datuk Keramat. Is it of the same owner??)

No frills outlet with tables and chairs set up outside a house.

The you tiao stall in the background.
We opt for less oily meat and no spare parts. Presentation is obviously lacking here, it’s not even served in a claypot!! In my opinion, the soup is a bit diluted and lacking in aroma. Also, the ingredients are not plenty and there’s hardly any vegetables!!
They serve yam rice or white rice. The yam rice taste alright, with bits of dried prawns and yam. You tiao is also served if you order it but it’s quite little (3 of us). I was wondering if I could go buy the plain you tiao from next door and eat it here!!! Might get shooed out instead. Hahaha
Bak Kut Teh is of course best eaten with garlic + dark soya sauce.
Cant really find good bak kut teh in Penang. Do you have any recommendation?

**Next up..something we can’t find in Penang..Klang Bak Kut Teh!!!**

Before I started blogging, I tried this lao fu zhi bah kut teh, but don’t like it at all. First it’s not served in a claypot, secondly lack of herbal taste in the soup
Can’t wait for your Klang bah kut teh post!

I never love the bah kut teh of this place. I still prefer Ah Keat and also Padang Brown 1.
